Macabre Manor

This game was created for Brackey's 2024.1 Game Jam. Developers had one week to create a game around the theme: What's Behind The Door?

This is an escape room style game with horror elements. It is our first attempt at both a 3D game and a horror game.

Premise

Use the clues in each room to solve the puzzles and open the door. You may not know what lies behind each door, but it is the only way to go...

Room 1

Take the key off the wall and use it to unlock the door.

Room 2

Grab the bucket under the counter shelf in the back of the room. Use the cauldron to fill it up, and put out the fire. Then use the key on the chest to get the next hint.

Use the bucket on the cauldron again and fill up the mug on the table, next to the plate with the meat. This will open the door.

Room 3

Click the scroll on the wall to get the hint about the gate. Find the tile on the wall that is visibly different (in the offset room with the barrels, high on the wall across from the torch), and press it to open the gate.

Use the potions on the wall-mounted shelf to determine the order of filled flasks. Use the paintings on the wall to determine the fill amounts (Red is above the cauldrons. Yellow is aside the torch in the offset room with the barrels. Blue is slightly hidden by the banner across from the gate. Notice that blue is twice as tall as the other two).

The solution for the cauldrons is Red(1), Blue(2), Yellow(1).

Room 4

In the door-less jail cell, read the bloody note on the ground. This reveals the first number for the combination lock, 2.

Take the key from the window sill and bring it to the first cell on the right when coming into this room. Go to the end of the room and take the key.

Use the key to open the cell across the walkway. At the end of the cell, there is writing on the wall which reveals the third number, 4.

Grab the knife and follow the bloody path back to the bloody bag and cut it open to reveal the second number, 7.

Use this combination, 2-7-4, to unlock the door.

Final Room

In the labyrinth, search for the 6 chains and activate them. This will open the path to the last door. Do this while avoiding the monster roaming the halls.
